A Southport-inspired knifeman has been jailed for 30 years for trying to kill a schoolgirl outside his home. Jordan Wilkes, 29, was convicted of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article after stabbing a nine-year-old girl three times with a penknife in the stairwell of a block of flats in Christchurch, Dorset. The victim had been playing with a friend outside the property in Glider Close on August 20 last year, when Wilkes stabbed her in the neck, chest and knee, leaving her scarred for life. The murder-obsessed loner had an 'unhealthy fascination' with child murders and had searched numerous YouTube videos and podcasts on such atrocities leading up to the attack. These included the killing of three girls at a dance class in Southport last year. He even searched for children's dance classes in his area with thoughts of carrying out a chilling copycat attack.
