It brought her back to life," says Denise Morgan, who's younger sister Annette was among one of those who died in the Aberfan disaster nearly 60 years ago. On 21 October 1966, a coal tip collapsed above the village. The torrent of slurry engulfed Pantglas Junior School and nearby homes, killing 144 people including 116 children. Speaking to a new BBC programme, Unseen: The Aberfan Portraits, Denise is among many families who have shared their paintings and spoken about how the art helped them grieve. Created by William Richardson, who had never met the children, his work gave something precious back to a community living with unimaginable grief. #BBCNews #Aberfan #Portraits #Wales
