Tens of thousands of fridge freezers have been left at Newport Docks after a recycling firm collapsed last year. Recycling company Unimetals, which had dozens of sites in the UK, filed for liquidation in 2025, creating a wider shortage of capacity to process cooling appliances, the Local Government Authority said. People are being forced to leave their fridges and freezers in their gardens for months because council collections across Wales and England have been suspended. The Welsh government said it was working with NRW, local authorities and the UK government to "manage the situation and support a return to normal capacity." #BBCNews #Recyling #Environment #Newport
