🌱 Back with more details from our Community Farm, as we await another BIG announcement coming soon! As we've mentioned in the past, our community farm is about more than just irrigation and growing crops. We also seek to educate our farm members about sustainable agriculture practices. One example of this is teaching farmers how to make their own fertilizer! Farmers in Burkina Faso saw chemical fertilizer prices more than double in the past year. Aside from being expensive, traditional chemical fertilizers are bad for water sources, soil health, and a health hazard for the community. That's why we lead workshops to educate farm members on how to make compost, thanks to our Farm Coordinator, Wielfried. The ability to make organic, locally-made compost is better both for farmers' wallets and the long-term sustainability of the soil.
