Thousands of endangered Bogong moths have washed up dead on Bondi Beach as millions make their annual migration to the Australian Alps. The moths travel hundreds sometimes more than 1,000km, from breeding grounds across eastern Australia to cooler alpine caves, where they spend summer. But this year, unusually strong winds and artificial lights are thought to have pushed some moths off course and towards the coast. The huge numbers being seen across Sydney are actually a positive sign for a species whose population has suffered dramatic declines in recent decades. #bondi #moth #australia #sydney #moths
