Big rigs are backing up away from the crowded Interstate 10, parked in rights of way, residential streets and private land — particularly north of the freeway in Surprise.
This recent trend grew to be the subject of a lengthy Surprise City Council work session discussion Sept. 20. City Manager Bob Wingenroth said many city residents drive trucks, and truckers are required to take breaks. Beyond that, he said, many also stay in town with their semis while they visit family, attend special life events and celebrate holidays.
