VOLUNTEER POLICE OFFICER SACKED AFTER STEALING £1.20 WORTH OF CARRIER BAGS FROM SAINSBURY’S. Luke Hodgson, a special constable with West Mercia Police, lost both his supermarket job and his policing role after failing to pay for three 40p carrier bags on separate occasions over 12 days in December 2025. Hodgson claimed he had failed to pay by mistake, but a misconduct hearing found he had acted dishonestly. Although he later repaid the £1.20 and co-operated with the investigation, the chief constable ruled that his actions breached standards of honesty and integrity. He was dismissed without notice and placed on the College of Policing’s barred list. #ThisIsMoney #Money #News #UK
