After losing his beloved dog in 2012, Chinese businessman Wang Yan was driven to track it down—even visiting a local slaughterhouse in Changchun. Although he never found his pet, what he witnessed motivated him to take drastic action: he spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy the slaughterhouse and shut down its cruel operations. Instead of making money, he turned the space into a rescue shelter for dogs at risk of being k*lled. Over the years, Wang’s sanctuary has provided refuge to over 2,000 dogs, many of which were saved from the dog meat trade. His commitment to animal welfare has left him financially strained, but he continues to care for the animals and promote adoption, relying on donations of food and supplies rather than cash. #Dogs #Pets #Wholesome #Slaughterhouse #Money
