Counter-Strike 2 pro Aleksi ‘Aleksib’ Virolainen is facing a potential four-month suspended prison sentence in Finland over allegations of aggravated tax fraud. Aleksib is the current captain of Ukrainian CS2 team Natus Vincere (NAVI). Prosecutors allege that Aleksib failed to declare more than €53,000 in income from Counter-Strike sticker sales, resulting in approximately €28,000 in unpaid taxes. Finnish news outlet Iltalehti reports that the alleged offense took place between May 19, 2020 and September 22, 2020. A subpoena states that Aleksib did not return a pre-filled tax return form for the 2019 year and did not report any missing income from Valve. Aleksib acknowledges that the income went undeclared but maintains he didn’t realise it was taxable. He said that, at the time, he was just 22 years old and had no real understanding of how the tax system worked. He has not been convicted, and the court’s final decision is still pending. #counterstrike #cs2 #esports #valve
