Modders are putting entire games inside other games, with viral mashups including Minecraft running inside Elden Ring, Escape from Tarkov mechanics in Skyrim, and Call of Duty Zombies mixed with Mario Kart. AI coding tools like Claude Code and open-source projects such as Universal Modder could be making these ambitious game mods easier to build by helping with reverse engineering, decompilation and testing.
