A live-action Streets of Rage movie is still in development, and according to Variety, Lionsgate has brought in Sonic the Hedgehog writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller to work on the script. The film has also found its director in Jeymes Samuel, best known for The Harder They Fall. The project was first announced back in 2022, with John Wick writer Derek Kolstad previously attached before moving off the screenplay. Plot details are still under wraps, but the movie is expected to lean heavily into the series’ iconic characters, electronic soundtrack, and classic beat-'em-up action. Streets of Rage remains one of Sega’s most beloved franchises, with Streets of Rage 4 selling more than 2.5 million copies in its first year. With the team behind the hugely successful Sonic movies now involved, Sega appears to be giving another of its classic gaming franchises the big-screen treatment. #sega #gaming #streetsofrage #movie #sonic
