Netflix’s BioShock movie is officially confirmed to be based on the 2007 original, producer Roy Lee revealed. The film will be directed by Francis Lawrence, who will tackle it after finishing The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping in 2026. The script is still in progress, with earlier drafts contributed by Blade Runner 2049’s Michael Green and Terminator: Dark Fate’s Justin Rhodes. Delays on BioShock gave Lawrence time to direct Stephen King’s The Long Walk, which hits theaters this week. Lee said the project has been reworked into a more “personal” film following Netflix’s shift toward smaller budgets.
