"Climate change is the greatest existential crisis that humanity has ever faced," says Martin Lynn, a grad student at RIC studying math and computer science. "The evidence is unequivocal that what needs to be done is not getting done. You look around and you realize that no one is doing anything about it, so you stand up and say, 'I have to do something about this.'" Like many activists across the country, he wants people to understand the importance of fighting for what you believe in. Lynn is a member of sunrise_pvd, the local chapter of a national youth group dedicated to fighting climate change. "There are a lot of people who feel the same way I do, and we are standing up at the same time and finding each other to create these organizations," he says. He is just one of the new generation of #studentactivists here at RIC.
