The #newyear is off to a great start for #RICAlum Maria Ducharme '87! On January 1, she became president of The Miriam Hospital, making her the first female nurses to lead a hospital in Rhode Island. It's inspring to see a graduate from the RIC School of Nursing in the top position at the top hospital in the state! It's also where Maria began her career back in 1987 after earning her BSN. It's just another example of how #RICAlumni in leadership positions throughout Rhode Island! Despite her lofty new position, however, Maria has not lost her connection to her true calling. "I'm going to be president of The Miriam Hospital but I am still a nurse and will always be a nurse," she says. "Nurses are the largest workforce in a hospital. We're the providers who are with patients 24/7.
