Taylena Dos Santos, a recent Rhode Island College MSW grad, is a member of the #nationalguard presently on active duty in Rhode Island, providing security at the state’s #covd19 test sites. Since 2011, Dos Santos has been a dedicated member of the rinationalguard. “It is my duty to serve this country and help during a pandemic, natural disaster or any other emergency crisis Americans may face,” she declares. • As both a member of the Guard and a social worker, Dos Santos believes it is her duty to do what she can to give assistance and provide support to any individual in need. She’s also working remotely for Caregiver Homes in Massachusetts to provide support to people caring for their loved ones at home. • “It is important to remind ourselves that we all are in the same boat and, yes, we are going through a hard time, but this too shall pass, especially if we work together and follow the procedures directed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” she says. . ricalumni . ...
