Our alumni rock! 🎸Reba Mitchell ‘14 is a #rockmusician, #emcee, salon #stylist, voiceover artist, audiobook narrator, vocal coach and founding board member of girlsrockri, a nonprofit that helps girls, women, trans and nonbinary folks empower themselves through music. She enrolled at RIC intending to be a music teacher, but eventually a #gender and #womensstudies class with Prof. Leslie Schuster changed Reba’s trajectory. “For the first time, I didn’t feel gaslighted by society,” she says. “In Lesley’s class oppressive structures were named for me, and I realized I wasn’t crazy. She literally saved my life. I felt validated and vindicated.” #womenhistorymonth . . . #RICnews #experienceRIC #RICalumni #rhodeislandcollege #girlsrock #girlsrockri #womenshistory #womeninmusic #femaleempowerment #genderstudies #rockmusic #rocknroll #musician #hairstylist #voice #womensvoices #pvdmusic
