Today we’re exploring the “wild side” of RIC – East Campus – in honor of its addition to the National Register of Historic Places. Ever wonder what that gate is along the Mt. Pleasant edge of campus? And the “path to nowhere” that runs behind it? It’s the former entrance to the Rhode Island State Home and School, which once stood on what is now East Campus and included buildings like Yellow Cottage, the Forman Center, and the Kauffman Center. And if you do a little exploring you’ll discover another hidden path between Guardo Hall and Building 8 that cuts through the woods and also leads out to Mt. Pleasant Ave. But watch out for the wildlife – wild turkeys and even the occasional coyote have been spotted! 🦃🐕
