“If you need to make something better, talk to the people who are in it,” said Law-Rel Butler (pictured w/ mic), a #studentorganizer with youthinactionri at last night’s standing room only forum in Gaige Hall. The topic of discussion was the state takeover of #PVDschools and the speakers represented Youth In Action and two other student groups, pvdstudentunion & arise__ri. The message was clear: Nothing about us without us. Or as Joseph Grajales of the #pvdstudentunion put it, “These are my problems? Why am I not the one at the seat... in front of the one who’s going to help me fix those problems?” 📸 + 📝 courtesy of provjournal & madeleine_e_list . . . #RICnews #experienceRIC #rhodeislandcollege #education #students #studentvoice #youthvoice #studentcentered #youthactivism #pvd #providenceschools #nothingaboutuswithoutus
