It’s #throwbackthursday and that means it’s time for another #RICspirit Day #giveaway! 🚨 ••• In #1959, as the then-new Mt. Pleasant campus was still in its first year, #artist Hollis Holbrook (pictured here) was putting the finishing touches on his #mural in one of the new buildings. The mural featured a #flame symbolizing the energy of life. This flame would serve as the inspiration for the official Rhode Island College seal (⬅️2nd pic) adopted in #1960. The seal was designed by Professor Emerita of Art Edith C. Becker, who adapted the flame from Holbrook’s mural. That mural is still prominently displayed on campus. ••• Want to win a brand new RIC travel mug? (⬅️3rd pic) Just tell us what building that mural can be found in!
