Today is #NationalRadioDay! 📻Let’s celebrate with a look back at the history of our favorite station, WXIN. These photos, from the #1980 #yearbook, document the first year in the studio of what was then known as WRIC. 🎙 Student DJs began spinning “album-oriented rock” (as the format is known in #radio industry jargon) on 580 AM on May 5, #1979 🎸📡 The call letters were changed to #WXIN in ‘84, so as not to be confused with an existing WRIC in Virginia. ricradio is still rocking live on the air all summer long at 90.7 FM & love on the web at ricradio.org.
