Think it’s tough making a living as a musician? Try hauling a 100-lb., 6-foot tall instrument from gig to gig. • That’s how #RICalum Molly McCaffrey ‘11 does it, using a dolly to wheel her gold-plated, “French empire” style #harp onstage for freelance gigs with the likes of #CelticWoman, riphilharmonic & and in her new role as principal #harpist with the #CapeAnn #SymphonyOrchestra. • During her time in the #Music Dept. at RIC – where she was the only harpist – she played with the Symphony Orchestra, #WindEnsemble & #ChamberEnsemble. She credits RIC not just for her #education, but for expanding her horizons. “I grew up in #Narragansett and had never lived outside the country,” she says. “It was exciting. It was scary. And it made me see how far music could take me. Music brought me to RIC. Then it took me to London, thanks to the Shinn Study Abroad Fund. The possibilities of where I could go with music seemed limitless.” 🎼🎫 mamccaff #humansofRIC . . . #RICnews #experienceRIC #RICspi...
