What an amazing way to close out #blackhistorymonth: #CornelWest packed the house at Roberts Hall last night and he did not disappoint! • “The fact that here in our midst, in this hemisphere, for 400 years, black folk chronically, systematically, institutionally were hated and yet taught the world so much about love - taught the world so much about how to love. All I need to do is just turn on ‘A Love Supreme’ and sit down. And let that music soak your soul, every nook and cranny of your heart and in your body, and say, ‘How could people so hated generate such unbelievable levels of artistic excellence tied to love, supreme?” . . . #RICnews #experienceRIC #rhodeislandcollege #drcornelwest #blackhistory #blackhistorymonth2019 #lecture #author #scholar #philosopher #intellectual #racematters #love #alovesupreme
