The former top aide for Dr Anthony Fauci pleaded guilty to a charge related to covering up his professional correspondence to avoid scrutiny about the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr David Morens, 78, of Chester, Maryland, pled guilty to conspiracy to commit offenses and to defraud the US on Tuesday. He faces up to five years in prison under the deal he reached with the Department of Justice (DOJ). He also pled that a co-conspirator in the case provided him with wine and offers of Michelin-starred dining experiences in return for his work to cover up their tracks. The DOJ indicted Morens in April on five counts relating to his role in defrauding the US by conspiring to conceal emails related to the pandemic's origin.
