Sigma Chi was started June 28, 1855 at the Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and today is a brotherhood with roots in the collegiate experience that gives rise to a lifelong commitment to strive to achieve true friendship, equal justice, and the fulfillment of learning. - The Gamma Omega chapter of Sigma Chi was founded at UConn in 1943, they are one of 12 chapters in UConn's Interfraternity Council (IFC).
