Interim St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Bret Ibert introduced himself to the public Tuesday during his first news conference since taking office. Ibert outlined his priorities for the Sheriff's Office and discussed plans for the agency's future. Ibert became interim sheriff after former Sheriff Randy Smith resigned following his guilty plea in connection with a fight at a Madisonville steakhouse. He will serve as sheriff until a special election is held on Nov. 3 to fill the remainder of Smith's term. #StTammanyParish #StTammanySheriff #BretIbert #LouisianaNews #BreakingNews #LawEnforcement #SheriffOffice #StTammanySheriffOffice #NorthshoreNews #MadisonvilleLA #RandySmith #SpecialElection2026 #LouisianaPolitics #PublicSafety #SheriffNews #PressConference #LocalNews #GovernmentUpdate #InterimSheriff #NewsUpdate
