A man who helped raise all eight children killed in the Shreveport mass shooting breaks down on camera: 'I've lost eight parts of me.' On April 19, 2026, 31-year-old Shamar Elkins shot and killed eight children — including seven of his own — ranging in age from 3 to 11 years old, in a Shreveport, Louisiana neighborhood. Two women were also critically wounded. Elkins was killed by police after a pursuit. Investigators say many of the children were shot in their sleep. Elkins and his wife were due in divorce court the following morning. This is America's deadliest mass shooting in more than two years. #ShrveportShooting #Louisiana #MassShooting #BreakingNews #WWLNews
