Good news: the nipple may soon be liberated from multinational tech firm Meta. The advisory board for Instagram and Facebook’s parent company has called for an overturning of rules banning images of bare-chested women, years after the #FreeTheNipple campaign. The move comes after Facebook removed two posts from a trangender and non-binary couple that showed the pair posing topless, but with their nipples covered. Though Meta eventually reinstated the post, the board has directed Facebook to change its adult nudity guidelines so that they are “governed by clear criteria that respect international human rights standards”. Meta has 60 days to respond publicly to the board’s recommendations.
