Waiting for the egg.
Ovulation is the monthly process where one of your ovaries releases an egg with the aim of getting fertilized by a swimmer.
These swimmers can last up to five days in the reproductive tract which is why you have a fertile window of about 6 days.
This is the main point of a menstrual cycle, and if fertilization does not happen, your should experience your menstrual period.
If the released egg is not fertilized, eventually it gets broken down and the body sheds the uterine lining.
