Before Amelia was born, she was diagnosed with an extremely rare and life-threatening heart defect - a pulmonary arterial venous fistula. Thanks to an innovative cardiac procedure performed just minutes after she was born in our Garbose Special Delivery Unit, Amelia is 5 and thriving! Amelia and her family - now living in Arizona - came back to CHOP recently for a check-up with Dr. Jack Rychik, director of our Fetal Heart Program, and she was all smiles.
