Diagnosed in utero with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, Lorenzo has undergone two open heart surgeries. His doctors were planning his third and final surgery when Lorenzo went into heart failure and was given a ventricular assist device to keep him alive until a new heart was found. Lorenzo received a heart transplant—just in time for his third birthday!
