5 years ago this summer, a gay Latino single dad and his three kids made history. 🏳️‍🌈🇵🇷 We became the first LGBTQ+ family with a gay dad ever on the cover of Parents Latina magazine. I still get emotional thinking about this. I grew up surrounded by machismo. The message was that real men don’t cry, don’t hug too long, and don’t say “I’m scared.” After I lost my husband Tim, I had a choice. I could raise my son and twin daughters the way I was raised, or I could raise them with compassion and let them see their papa be honest and vulnerable. I chose vulnerability. Every single day. That cover wasn’t just about us. It was about a new generation of LGBTQ+ parents and Latino fathers rewriting what strength looks like. It means crying with your kids, saying “I’m sorry” and “te quiero” out loud, and showing up softly. To every dad breaking the cycle: I see you. To every kid who never saw a family like theirs on a magazine stand: now you have. 💛 Look how little they were! 🥹 Drop...
