TODAY IN AHS’ “WHAT IS THAT THING,” we bring you the Water Bear or the Moss Piglet or Space Aliens. Whatever you call them, they reign supreme as little superheroes of your garden. Scientifically known as Tardigrades, they are part of the invertebrate group known as ectozoans and can survive extreme temperatures, pressures, lack of oxygen, intense radiation, and even have survived a trip into space. With only a face that a mother can love, these micro munchers are sort of like tiny recycling machines, having a huge appetite for bacteria, viruses, and algae in which they form a part of the complex microscopic ecosystem that helps to break down waste and return nutrients to the soil. Good luck trying to put capes on these microscopic superheroes, but be thankful for the help they lend in your garden. Thanks to AHS, now you know WHAT IS THAT THING! #gardening #horticulture #homeschoolingfun #flower #riverfarm #potomacbanks #potomacbanks
