Hi, I’m NikiJabbour and I’ve taken over the American Horticultural Society Instagram today! My latest book, Growing Under Cover: Techniques for a More Productive, Weather-Resistant, Pest-Free Vegetable Garden was just recognized by the AHS as a Top 10 Book of 2020! This book showcases the many ways home gardeners can use simple covers to grow more food and healthier plants. In the spring garden I use row covers, mini hoop tunnels, cold frames, and cloches to get a jump on the planting season. Even though I live in zone 5 and the weather is still cold, I’m already seeding cool season salad greens and root crops beneath these covers. (We had snow a couple of days ago!) Pairing plants with covers gives me a big head start on the harvest season! My favourite spring veggies include lettuce, arugula, spinach, kale, scallions, carrots, and peas. Do you use any garden covers in your veggie patch? . . . . . . Photo by cookedphotography. Published in Growing Under Cover StoreyPub #garden #garden...
