The Bradbury Building in Los Angeles is one of the most distinctive buildings in the Downtown area. The building was opened in 1893 and inaugurated the following year. The initial budget of $175,000 (at that time, a fortune) had risen to $500,000 also because of the care put into every detail: wrought-iron railings (made in France, they had been exhibited at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair before being installed), terracotta and Italian marble friezes, the largest single-pane windows in the entire city. In 1977 it was declared a national monument. The Bradbury has often been seen on film: in Billy Wilder's masterpiece 'The Flame of Sin'. In 'Blade Runner' (some of its most memorable sequences, including the replicant's rooftop monologue, were filmed here by Ridley Scott) the building also appears in 'The Artist'. . . #urbansketch #sketch #urbansketchers #urbansketching #sketchbook #drawing #usk #sketching #moviesketch #bradburybuilding #urbansketcher #architecture #losangeles #sketchwal...
