Using fragments of printed paper scavenged from city streets, Mark Bradford creates densely layered abstract paintings that center the narratives and humanity of marginalized people.  . This work's title, Noah's Third Day, refers to the biblical narrative of Noah's Ark, which became an essential theme for the artist in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and its disproportionate impact on Black residents. Bradford developed relationships with residents of the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans that have since informed his practice. . This work is currently on view in New to the Collection.
