For this week’s #FavoriteFriday, we are featuring Roses by Henri Fantin-Latour (1887). Thanks to marinap.b for this request! .
Known for his still life scenes and portraits, Fantin-Latour (1836–1904) was a traditional painter in the era of Impressionism. His delicate paintings of flowers were most popular, especially with English collectors. However, he was also largely influenced by music, not only painting portraits of his musician contemporaries but also creating lithographs of fantastical scenes inspired by such works as the operas of #RichardWagner. .
