.
Dan Leers, curator of photography at Carnegie Museum of Art, interviews British photographer Paul Graham to discuss his piece, “Pittsburgh (man cutting grass).” .
The work features nine photos that detail a man cutting an enormous field of grass with a tiny lawnmower outside a motel in Pittsburgh, the first stop Graham made on a cross-country roadtrip.
.
“This fracturing hints at an editorial process in which, rather than selecting a single image, Graham chooses numerous photographs to better capture a sense of movement and passage of time,” writes Leers. “It feels particularly relevant today with our habitual clicking and swiping through digital imagery.” .
