Dipi’s first shutout dub meant a little more last night 💜
On the Bruins Hockey Fights Cancer night against the Nashville Predators, DiPietro stopped 28 of 28 pucks, making a series of flashy saves to ensure the Bruins could offensively go off for six goals. He dedicated the victory to his mother, who he lost at when he was age 5, to cancer.
It meant a little more for the 27-year-old goaltender, who is making the most his first full pro season;
"I think that’s how hockey is so important for me and my family and my dad especially. He’s my best friend, and for him to support me the way he did as a single dad for a while before meeting my stepmom – who is really my mom – means a lot to me personally. I just want to go through my life trying to do the right thing and leave a good legacy for her.” — h/t Fraser, Boston Bruins
