#OnThisDay in 1941, forces from the Empire of Japan launched a surprise attack against the United States Pacific Fleet at #PearlHarbor. Two ships involved were the USS Maryland and the USS Roger B. Taney (later named the USCGC Taney), the last warship still floating that fought at Pearl Harbor.
Following the attack, “Remember Pearl Harbor” became a popular slogan. Banners like this one, owned by Sadell R. Ruth, hung in houses, schools, and many other buildings throughout Baltimore and the United States.
