Our resident pronghorn antelope are back! After meticulous conservation and repair work we just finished in the lava tube diorama, these iconic taxidermy specimens have returned to the Gallery of California Natural Sciences—just in time to welcome visitors up close once again. 🦌
Fun fact: Pronghorn antelope are the fastest land animals in North America, reaching speeds of up to 60 mph—and unlike cheetahs, they can sustain that pace over long distances. They’re also among the continent’s greatest travelers, with some herds migrating over 150 miles between seasonal habitats.
Huge shoutout to our preparators and conservators for the meticulous work it takes to preserve and reinstall historic specimens like these.
Come see them up close in the Gallery of California Natural Sciences!
