“I’m a maker and some people call it ‘artist’“. Opening June 12, “Mildred Howard: Poetics of Memory” is the first major museum exhibition dedicated to the acclaimed Bay Area artist. Featuring iconic collages, found-object sculptures, immersive installations, and never-before-seen works, “Poetics of Memory” traces personal and collective histories through one of the Bay Area’s most influential artistic voices. Premiering on Juneteenth! at the Museum on June 19, “Memories in Motion: Selected Stories of Mildred Howard” follows Howard through the East Bay landscapes of her life, revealing how memory, family, music, mentorship, and everyday experience inform her work. Following the screening, join us for a special panel conversation with Mildred Howard, Dr. Ameer Hasan Loggins, and the filmmakers @myl3z and @delency_. 📍 “Mildred Howard: Poetics of Memory” opens June 12, 2026 🎟️ Tickets at the link in bio  #MildredHoward #BlackArtist #OaklandMuseumCA #ArtExhibition #JuneteenthCelebrat...
