Wait… whose face is on the $100 bill? 💵  Bay Area artist Mildred Howard replaced Benjamin Franklin with herself in this bold early artwork created while studying fashion design at the College of Alameda. Now it’s taking over our walls in a massive mural installation at the Oakland Museum of California.  This piece marks one of the earliest examples of Howard’s signature use of collage, found materials, photography, printmaking, and self-portraiture. And yes, you can spot the original small version inside the exhibition 👀  “Mildred Howard: Poetics of Memory” opens June 12. Come experience the mural and explore the full exhibition.  🎟️ Tickets at the link in bio!  #OaklandMuseumCA #MildredHoward #PoeticsofMemory #BayAreaArtist #Museum #ArtExhibition #OaklandArt #ContemporaryArt #MuralArt #BehindTheScenes
