The first production Boeing Model 707-120 jet rolled out of the Renton, Wash., factory on Oct. 28, 1957. Boeing custom-designed the #707 jets to meet a variety of airline requirements.
The 707's width and 100-foot (30.5-meter) length made it the largest passenger cabin in the air at the time. Placement of its 100-plus windows allowed #airlines to rearrange seats. Location of passenger doors on the left side, at the front and at the rear of the cabin, became standard for subsequent Boeing jets.
