This M4A3 Sherman sits outside of the Idaho Military History Museum. It was the most widely used medium tank by the United States in World War II because it was relatively cheap to produce and reliable. It was used by the U.S. from 1942 – 1957. The crew consisted of a commander, gunner, loaders, driver and assistant driver/bow gunner. Its main weapon included a 75mm gun, a 76mm gun or a 105mm howitzer. This Sherman sat outside of the Idaho National Guard’s headquarters building for almost two decades before it was moved to the museum in 2017. The museum, located just outside of Gowen Field, is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday – Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. #idahonationalguard #idahomilitaryhistorymuseum #idahohistory #wwii #sherman #shermantank #tank #usarmy #m4a3 #tanktuesday #alliedforces #military #ww2history #fury #usflag #tagtheflag #flag
