This week, Idaho Army National Guard pilots and crew members flew into the dark hours of the night, conducting hoist rescue training with the UH-72 Lakota helicopters using night vision goggle equipment. Our photographers also have NVG camera capabilities to capture nighttime operations. The Lakota helicopters have a unique hoist and lift rescue attachment and are strictly used for domestic operations and rescues. In the past two years, Idaho National Guard pilots and crews have been involved in more than nine local real-world rescues. The unit regularly conducts nighttime rescue training to be ready when the call comes for an emergency situation during the night. #idahonationalguard #idahoarmynationalguard #idarng #armyaviation #nationalguard #armynationalguard #nightops #idahosunset #lakota #uh72 #militaryphotography #aviationphotography #nightlife #nighttraining #ownthenight #medivac #armymedic #flightmedic
