Last night, while conducting annual training, the 1-183 Assault Helicopter Battalion was called into real-world action to rescue three rafters who became stranded in a mountainous and remote portion of the Boise River after their raft overturned. With time short as sundown approached and temperatures dropping, the crew was able to land among the steep terrain and safely recover and transport the rafters to #ElmoreCountySearchandRescue. All three individuals appeared healthy; however, had helicopter support not been available, a rescue prior to nightfall was unlikely, potentially leaving the individuals susceptible to the elements. #idahonationalguard #idahoarmynationalguard #idarng #armyaviation #medevac #searchandrescue #rescue #safeandsound #likeagoodneighbor #nationalguardlife #nationalguard #uh60 #uh60blackhawk #citizensoldier #armypilot
