For the the month of October, leading up to Halloween, we are highlighting the weirder, odd, and stranger cuts in our print shop exhibit at the Sacramento History Museum. This woodcut in the print shop is from the Eleanor McClatchy Collection and it is probably one of the most disturbing woodcuts that we have. In this video, Channey letterpress printed a hand carved woodcut of a headless chicken. Of course, this woodcut reminds us of the story of Mike the Headless Chicken, a chicken that lived for 18 months after losing its head in 1945. The chicken gained national fame touring in sideshows until March 1947. This was printed with orange oil base ink using our Washington hand press. #SacHistoryMuseum #halloween #spookyseason #museum #printing
