The NBA is back and tonight, October 23rd, is the first home game of the season for the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center. To help kick off the season, special guests stopped by the Sacramento History Museum! Morgan Ragan and Deuce Mason, NBA broadcasters for the @Sacramento Kings and hosts of the @Deuce and Mo podcast, visited the print shop to do some letterpress printing. We had to get out some large wood type for the occasion that was made in the late 1880s by the Hamilton Wood Type Company. The typeface is French Clarendon and the size is 30 line pica (5 inches) for the top line and 15 line pica (2.5 inches) for the bottom line. What Morgan, Deuce, and Jared letterpress printed states, “GO KINGS LIGHT THE BEAM!” The beam appears over the Golden 1 Center when the Kings win. We look forward to seeing the beam a lot this season. This was printed with purple oil base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852. #SacHistoryMuseum #sacramentokings #museumtok #print...
