Let’s be honest - figs are NOT cheap. There’s nothing worse than wasting expensive, gorgeous produce, so when your figs are starting to take a turn for the worse, make homemade fig jam! Perfect for spreading onto your favorite toast, into a bowl of oatmeal, or as a topping for vanilla ice cream. Here’s the quick recipe: . . FIG JAM: . 1 lb. fresh figs, stems removed and roughly chopped . 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries (or sub with more figs) . 2/3 cup cane sugar . 1/2 of a lemon, squeezed . 1 tsp lemon zest . 2 cinnamon sticks . Add figs, cherries and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring often, and press fruits with the back of a wooden spoon to release liquid. Reduce heat, add remaining ingredients and simmer over low for 45 minutes. Remove cinnamon sticks, then blend for 10 seconds with immersion or regular blender. Transfer to a glass jar, seal and store in refrigerator for a week. #crowdedkitchen . . . . . . . . #plantpower #plantbased #plantpowered #foo...
