July 21st is Belgian National Day, otherwise known as the Independence Day in Belgium! It is on this day in 1831 that King Leopold I takes the oath of allegiance to the Constitution and investiture as first King of the Belgians. For today, Alex D. discussed this important day in his home country of Belgium and the country’s history while he letterpress printed “Happy Independence Day to my home, Belgium!” This was typeset in 60 point Caslon font. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press. #SacHistoryMuseum #BelgianNationalDay #belgium #typography #sacramento #museum #History #printing #printingpress #letterpress
